My name is Staffan Bram and I have a background in Cognitive Science, focusing on applications to industrial safety and control. I spent the first years of my career working with nuclear safety but have later transitioned into the maritime domain. In my work I want to contribute to workplaces that are both safer, more efficient and more satisfying.
RISE does research on a wide range of maritime topics with a particularly strong position in maritime fire safety. 2019 marks the start of a new four-year project called Lash Fire, led by RISE and funded by the European Commission. In this project we and our partners will study (among many other things) usability and design of systems that help the crew perceive, understand and combat fires in the RoRo space. Usability in ship design is also the subject of my PhD studies at Chalmers University, Design & Human Factors dept.
