Center IUS - What can we offer?
There are several different ways of working to identify and develop symbioses. Which way to go, depends on the business. Here we gather a range of different services and expertise within specific subjects and areas.
Through the CORALIS project, an educational matrix has been developed that shows how companies can develop their operations based on industrial and urban symbiosis. By combining innovative business strategies and technical enablers, the result is tailor-made solutions for companies and stakeholders, regardless of the need or conditions.
Down below is a simplified view of the matrix. Do you want to know more? Contact us for collaborations or questions.

Analyzes
Center for Industrial and Urban Symbiosis can help you identify, gather various relevant skills and analyzes based on your needs. Examples of analyzes are, for example, life cycle analyzes to quantify the environmental impact from the operation of symbioses, execution of techno-economic analyzes from different perspectives and questions, as well as analyzes of the economic feasibility from a life cycle perspective. System analyzes with a focus on how different parts of the system interact, e.g. analysis of system dynamics, are also important for investigating resilience and creating scenarios for the future and understanding risks and opportunities with different development paths of the symbiosis network.
Decision support
Do you need help identifying and collect various relevant skills in decision-making processes? Our support can be monitoring the environment and support to act proactively in decision-making, and also different forms of structured co-creation processes can also be good to use to explore ways forward together with other actors within a symbiosis.
Digital solutions
We find, adapt and develop the right type of digital support by jointly identifying and connecting you with relevant skills for your questions. Examples of support available are various training courses, workshops and testbeds to develop and find the right type of digital tools for your specific needs. More concrete support is, for example, the creation of visual tools, the possibility of developing games for co-creation processes, the use of digital infrastructure for complex calculations.
Financial support
Symbiosis is part of the circular economy. A circular economy, or circular transition, includes a variety of aspects such as designing products to be recycled and creating new business models so that products are used more efficiently, e.g. by selling services instead of products. Examples of innovation support are the creation of innovation partnerships when large and many different needs in innovation are requested, or the opportunity to train and certify innovation leaders, as well as to receive support within your symbiosis in how digitization can be used as an aid in innovation work.
Permit issues
A well-executed consultation process is a very important piece of the puzzle to achieve a successful and efficient permitting process. RISE can provide guidance and support businesses through the permit process to apply for a permit according to the Environmental Code, help businesses produce decision-making documents, contribute with expert knowledge and legal competence regarding permit processes. Developing the right decision-making basis is crucial for an effective process. By collecting, compiling and clarifying information - better decision-making bases can be created.
