Courses
RISE, which coordinates the development of courses within NEB Academy in Sweden, is guided by the New European Bauhaus values of sustainability, beauty, and inclusion. This page gathers courses and trainings from across the industry, covering topics such as sustainable and circular construction, design for health and well-being, as well as social sustainability and inclusion.
Micro-credentials for lifelong learning
NEB Academy Sweden offers high-quality and open digital courses to enhance knowledge and support lifelong learning in sustainable construction. Several of the courses lead to micro-credentials, which means that upon completion you receive a digital, documented proof of specific knowledge or skills acquired through the course. These can easily be shared to strengthen your CV or highlight on LinkedIn.
Why are they important?
Micro-credentials are part of the European Commission’s initiative to strengthen lifelong learning. They provide a flexible and detailed way to showcase competencies and are especially valuable in a rapidly changing job market, where continuous learning and specialized skills are increasingly important. Learn more about what micro-credentials are and how they can be used here.
Below, you can explore each course in more detail and get started today.
Design process for green transition
In order to transform the construction and real estate sector to become more sustainable, not only changed construction techniques and materials are needed, but also new work processes that provide better conditions for building sustainably. In this course, you will gain an overall understanding of methods and strategies for sustainable construction from an ecological perspective with a focus on building with a low carbon footprint. You will also receive tools and support in critically reviewing the conventional construction and design process to identify the necessary activities to bring about a change.
Healthy cities
Today, 50% of the world’s population lives in cities—a figure expected to rise to 70% by 2050. How we plan and build our cities has a significant impact on people’s living conditions.
The e-course "The Healthy City" provides you with insight and in-depth knowledge about the connections between urban design and human health and well-being.
Timber on top
The development of a property can take many forms and many names. This training is mainly about extensions, but the technology and strategic thinking are at least as applicable to extensions, extensions or when transforming properties. Timber on Top is about the unique and varied opportunities for densification in the urban environment that open up through extensions, extensions and extensions. By using what has already been built, we can extend the life of existing buildings and reduce the need to use untouched land.
The course is developed in collaboration with Trästad Sverige
Modern timber construction - introductury course
A basic e-course for those who want to start designing, planning, and preparing for the construction of large timber buildings.
Learn the fundamentals of different timber construction systems, their advantages and disadvantages, and gain a basic understanding of how to approach key issues such as acoustics, moisture, and fire. The course also covers how to work with various sustainability criteria such as life cycle assessment and circularity.
The training provides you with knowledge, practical exercises, and insights to help you turn theory into practice. You will also get access to downloadable references, so you can continue to develop your skills in the field even after completing the course.
Wood First – building sustainable
The goal of the Wood First training is to help you gain more knowledge about sustainable construction and increased wooden house construction. We hope that we will inspire you to start working with wood construction in a new way.
The course is developed in collaboration with Trästad Sverige.
Circular Construction
A circular economy is, simply put, the opposite of the traditional linear economy that dominates today. A linear economy begins with the extraction of raw materials and ends with waste management, often with far too short a period of use in between. For the linear economy to work, we would need an endless supply of raw materials.
In a circular economy, materials and products are kept in use for as long as possible through processes such as maintenance, reuse, and recycling.
Are you active in the construction and real estate sector and want to start working circularly? Or deepen your knowledge and gain inspiration from our partners? Then you are warmly welcome to take CCBuild’s digital course in circular construction.
The course is developed by CCBuild – the Centre for Circular Construction.
Inclusive urban planning
A fundamental e-course for those who want to work actively and strategically with inclusion in projects and planning. Learn the basics of inclusion and gain tools and knowledge to work with inclusiveness in urban development, both in processes and projects.
The training provides you with tools, concrete exercises, and insights to turn knowledge into action. You will also have access to downloadable methodology materials, exercises, and templates, so you can continue to develop in the field after completing the course.
