Bahiru Tsegaye Ayalew

Bahiru Tsegaye is a researcher working in the Product Design unit at RISE Agriculture and Food in Göteborg. He received his PhD in biochemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, in 2020. He is passionate about developing novel, comprehensive, and integrated bioprocesses that connect multidisciplinary subjects for the sustainable production of food, energy, and materials. Before joining RISE, He worked on upscaling and processing of thermoplastic lignocellulose materials as a Postdoctoral researcher at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm Sweden. He has experience in variety of thermal, mechanical and rheological characterization methods, Confocal FRAP technique for studying diffusion across plant cell wall as well as other processing related techniques such as extrusion, compression and Injection molding, fermentation, bacteria cell culture and characterization. Currently, He is working on a project investigating the mechanisms of fiber formation in meat analogues.
