SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory
SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory is Sweden’s national test center for research and development in electromobility. Here, advanced test infrastructure meets top-tier expertise to drive the next generation of electrified transport solutions – and to strengthen a sustainable and competitive battery value chain in Sweden and across Europe.
Three state-of-the-art facilities
SEEL is owned by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation. The operations are based at three strategically located test facilities:
These sites enable industry and academia to jointly develop, verify, and evaluate technologies for electrified vehicles, energy systems, and batteries – from early prototypes to market-ready products.
An independent environment for faster innovation
By bringing together expertise, advanced infrastructure, and independent test environments, SEEL creates the conditions for:
- faster knowledge development
- more efficient collaboration across the sector
- shorter time from idea to market
The goal is clear: to accelerate the electrification of the transport sector and strengthen Europe’s ability to develop and produce next‑generation battery technology.
Serving the entire transport sector – from road to air and sea
The automotive and aerospace industries, the maritime sector, and technology suppliers can test and optimize their solutions in modern laboratories equipped with world‑class technology. At the same time, SEEL provides a shared platform where companies and researchers meet, exchange knowledge, and drive technological progress forward.
Part of Europe’s Battery Initiative
SEEL is also a partner in a major European collaboration within the IPCEI Batteries framework, together with organizations from Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Poland, and Germany. Together, the partners contribute to strengthening Europe’s capacity to develop and manufacture the battery technologies of the future.
