The project Industry 5.0 creates a connection between process and external users in different mills!

Today, there is no simple connection between process and external users in different mills, which creates an obstacle for the development of new monitoring applications. In the project Industry 5.0, which is funded by Vinnova, the Swedish innovation authority, new technology will be evaluated in various stages in collaboration with the project partners, RISE Processum, PulpEye, Process IT, Telia, BillerudKorsnäs, and Kondor Processoptimering.

The goal of the two-year project Industry 5.0 is to contribute to streamlining various processes, which leads to increased resource efficiency and reduced energy consumption. Process monitoring provides more efficient use of raw materials with fewer complaints and less waste as a result. - If the project succeeds in offering a simple connection and transfer of data, all installations in the world can be offered our services immediately in an efficient way, says Öjvind Sundvall, CEO of PulpEye.

PulpEye will initially test the technology in two pilot plants at RISE Processum, the HTL pilot and the BioBo bioreactor. In the future, the process technologies will be scaled up and then both new online technology and the possibility of remote monitoring are needed. NIR technology used in the pulp and paper industry will be applied to completely new areas of use such as the production of bio-oils and for fermentation processes.

                        - This is a very interesting project where there is a win-win situation. We will get fast analyzes and PulpEye will have access to a large amount of data, says Yvonne Söderström Nordin, Senior Project Manager Processum.

The project will visualize large amounts of process data outside the mill in a safe and efficient way. It will also develop a demonstrator where process tools will help staff to be able to make effective decisions.

The results from the project will be tools and working methods that provide opportunities to effectively remotely monitor and control factories globally. More efficient measurement methods must also be developed that provide better control, which leads to energy savings.

PulpEye leads the project which is carried out in collaboration with RISE Processum, BillerudKorsnäs, Process IT, Telia and Kondor Processoptimering.
