Contact LarsRISE has extensive research and development activities in the battery area. Our resources cover the entire value chain, from material to product and from use to second life.
Battery research at RISE is about research and analysis on battery materials, products and components in the different stages of a battery's development. We dare to take on difficult challenges in the field of battery research.
When you contact us with a research question or about a potential collaboration in the battery area, you can benefit from all our existing resources and our complete testing methodology. But we master and can do much more. We are keen to discover undiscovered fields, and we like the unexplored! Tell us about your challenges in the battery research field, and we will adapt our lab, equipment, simulation ability, and analytical skills to meet your needs.
Do you want to conduct research in the battery area but do not know how to finance it? We can help you with your research application and support you in your work. For example, we can collaborate to form a consortium where we seek joint funding.
Battery research at RISE involves close collaboration with the industry, often with public financers from the Swedish Energy Agency, Vinnova, and Horizon Europe. We also collaborate with Swedish and foreign companies and other research institutes. We carry out directly funded research assignments. The degree of confidentiality is always adapted to the wishes of the customer and the research funder.
We work with all from parts of a battery cell to a finished electric vehicle, and also with the whole process from a vehicle's use in society to second use and/or battery recycling. Below you can read more about our battery research.
Do you need help developing methods for formulating or coating active materials? Or do you need to evaluate the joining and press forming of battery cells, modules and packs? We have extensive experience in developing technologies in manufacturing and process. By getting help from us, you will speed up your market introduction and reduce both start-up and production costs.
Batteries can pose a risk when exposed to mechanical or environmental impact. Thus, certain safety requirements must be fulfilled when using batteries in different applications. With long experience in fire safety, we evaluate the function of batteries under both stress and external impact. By this, we contribute to the safe electrification of society.
We provide testing and research in reliability and safety testing on batteries and their control systems, where we have the capacity for cycling everything from small battery cells to large battery packs. When working with RISE, you get access to the Nordic region's largest independent testing facility. We handle everything from stationary to mobile battery applications; cars, trucks, buses and machinery such as mining machines, dumpers and container lifters.
At RISE, there is surrounding research that links to battery research. Some of these areas are:
