Additive manufacturing of prosthesis and orthosis based on forest raw materials

The AMPOFORM project combines 3D technology with biobased materials from the forest to create highly-demanding products such as leg prostheses. In this way, simultaneous demands of environment and market competition can be met.

The project is developing a technology platform based on additive manufacturing and a biobased material consisting of nanocellulose from forest raw material. The technology platform will form the basis for the creation of a new value chain and more advanced products.

The goal is to develop three prototypes that meet the high demands placed on sustainability and function. The prostheses will be tested on a patient at Orthopedics in Örebro.
