Analysis for process liquors and chemicals

Black liquor:
Fibre content (total), residual alkali (hydroxide, carbonate), sulphide ion, sulphite ion, sulphate ion, thiosulphate ion, total sulphur, oxalate content, chloride content, metal content, carbohydrates (total, polymeric and free monomers), lignin (total and molecular weight distribution), amount of tall oil, terpenes content, amount of hydroxy acids and volatile acids (subcontractor), dry matter and ash content.  

White and green liquor:
Alkali content (total, active and effective), carbonate content, sulphide, sulphite, sulphate, thiosulphate, total sulphur, potassium and sodium content, chloride content and metal content.

Anion content, cation demand, carboxylic acid content, uronic acid content, ASA (total), carbohydrates (total), lignin content, amount of optical brightener and starch content.

Process water: anion content, cation requirement, carboxylic acid content, uronic acid content, ASA (total content), carbohydrates (total content), lignin content, amount of optical brightener, starch content, and alkalines.

Black liquor:

Lime: amount of free lime, metal content (sodium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, iron, aluminium, silicon, phosphorus, sulphur) and acid soluble sodium.

Pine oil: acid number, neutrals (non-saponifiables), composition of fatty and resin acids, water content, ash content, total sulphur and total sodium.

Soap: Pine oil (maximum theoretical yield in soap), lye content, calcium (important for e.g. scales), dry matter and calorific value.

Total diterpenoid content, GC-MS screening of other organic compounds, methanol content, water content, ammonium content, total nitrogen content, TRS content (hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide), total sulfur content, monoterpene content (α-pinene, β-pinene, 3-carene, limonene), total monoterpenoid content, and total sesquiterpene content.

Organic acids: levulinic acid, ethanol, glycerol and lactic acid, formic acid, acetic acid, the furan derivatives hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and furfural. We also measure organic acids in black liquors. It is also possible to analyze organic compounds with HPLC.
