Ingvar Ymén is an inorgaic chemist with a PhD in crystallography from the University of Lund, 1983. After a short time as a lecturer at Luleå Technical University he worked for the industry, between 1984 to 2012, with processing of solids and with investigations of solids properties. 1984 - 1992 he worked for Norsk Hydro with prill- och granulation processes for fertilizers and explosives. He was also manager for the processlaboratory and for SHE in Köping. 1992 - 2012 he worked with pharmaceutical processing at AstraZeneca i Södertälje. His main focus was different aspects of the solid state, e g crystallization, polymorphism, solubility, phase diagrams etc. He also managed the solid state laboratory in Södertälje. Since 2013 he works for RISE and has continued to work with solid-state issues for the pharma industry, but also with the Swedish mining industry with investigations of their floatation processes. Besides knowledge in inorganic chemistry and crystallography, he also uses thermodynamics, especially Gibbs Phase Rule, in his daily work. He uses the following analytical techniques: DSC, DVS, FTIR, ICP/OES, Laser diffraction, Polarized Light Microscopy, SEM/EDS, SXRD, TGA and XRPD.
