Contact MattiasMany industrial processes have excess heat. It can be waste heat from paper, steel or chemical industries, but also from electrolysers and data centers. By creating connecting processes that have a heat surplus with processes that need heat, circularity can be created.
Sometimes people talk about the concept of high-value heat, which is usually deposited in, for example, the district heating network, but there is also low-value heat. Usually, this excess heat lacks deposition on a larger scale.
The low-grade heat is usually not pressurized and consists of hot air or hot water between 30-65 degrees. RISE has expertise in the recycling of low-temperature excess heat. At the RISE test and demo facility ICE Datacenter, several different attempts to recover excess heat has been carried out, including heating greenhouses, drying biomass and growing mealworms for egg-producing hens.
