The project aims to improve evacuation safety for travellers on passenger ships, accounting for age and impairments, through the use of digital communication solutions.
DigiSEA aims at improving ship evacuation safety for all passengers, irrespective of impairments, and to enhance safety awareness for all passengers, crew, and rescue personnel. Communication practices, systems and tools employed during an evacuation will be reviewed in terms of accessibility, ergonomics, and practical usability, pointing to new design concepts. This work will be informed by the Universal Design concept. The ambition is to explore how digital communication techniques can improve accessibility for all passengers in ship design.
