The project will use an innovative and hi-tech treatment solution, Zymatic, to identify and validate circular performance on manufacturing waste streams. The project will apply international standards for Circular Economy to help identify circularity initiatives and further evaluate the initiatives for full-scale capabilities. Once the stream has been selected, the project will conduct internal- and on-site piloting to validate the treatment step and monitor its performance. Finally, the treatment solution will be further tested on similar streams to predict the reusability and transferability of the technology solution to other streams and optimally confirm the use of both the technology and the standards.
Water circularity is important for industries in terms of sustainability, protecting ecosystems and for increased competitiveness. In chemical manufacturing, such as the Pharma- and Medtech industry and its value-chain, the ability to reuse wastewater into various production areas or supporting processes is of high interest. New requirements have led to an increased interest of water reuse An example is EU:s increase demands on industries through Urban wastewater treatment directive (UWWTD) and the Surface and Groundwater Directive (SGD). Here, the directives include polluters pay principles, but also other aspects. This gives the project an opportunity to combine innovative treatment solutions, new ISO-standards with the need to find new water initiatives.
