Contact AnneliSARDIN - System Demo, Analysis, Resource Efficiency, Data sharing, Privacy, Utilization - aims, in collaboration with stakeholders, to enable increased use of health data to facilitate research and innovation. The goal is to accelerate the development of new treatment methods, products and services that ultimately promote good and equitable health.
The rapid technological and medical advancements in recent years depend on access to large volumes of data. To promote good and equitable health, data is needed from both individuals and larger groups that can be aggregated.
Today, there is no national data space for sharing data between healthcare and secondary users (researchers and SMEs gaining access to healthcare data). In SARDIN, we will focus on the secondary use of mock data and the legislative proposal within the European Health Data Space (EHDS).
EHDS involves both giving individual patients within the EU greater control over health data and facilitating the sharing and access to health data, both within healthcare (primary use) and beyond healthcare in research, innovation, and decision-making (secondary use). A secure data processing environment is described in the legislative proposal, referred to as the "Secure Processing Environment" (SPE).
Within the project, we will build a secure data processing environment, drawing from experiences, including the Swedish e-Health Agency's work on a national data storage space for medical imaging, including storage and processing (Preliminary study on a national data space for medical imaging (S2021/05259)). The project will deliver a functioning prototype for sharing mock data for secondary use. In the initial phase, regions, academia, and SMEs will have access to mock data, demonstrating how data's secondary use can be improved. The goal after the project's completion is to develop the solution further and include the primary use of health data.
We aim to create a secure and unified solution where societal stakeholders can share and use health data to benefit research, innovation, and accelerate the development of new treatment methods, services, and products, ultimately promoting good and equitable health.
Vinnova funds SARDIN and is part of the call "System demonstrator for utilization of healthcare data".
