Analysis of total organic or inorganic carbon in solutions

TOC instruments that can, in addition to total organic or inorganic carbon in solutions, also measure total nitrogen. By, for example, analyzing total nitrogen in the bio - treatment's incoming and outgoing streams, you get information about the treatment's effect in terms of nitrogen emissions.

Purpose

An example of an assignment for TOC measurement is that we measure the carbonate content in different lixiviums. It is important to keep track of the carbonate content in the liquors because otherwise you can get crust problems in the evaporation.

TOC measurement replaces more and more determination of COD in emissions, but of course we will continue to perform COD measurements. For bleaching experiments, the experimental program can therefore be supplemented with TOC measurement to get an idea of ​​the resulting emission levels from the mill. For the same reason, a pulp supplier or a non-integrated paper mill may want to know the level of washable TOC. Then a standard method is used according to which the mass is beaten up in a defibrillator and then we can measure TOC in the water used.
