Determination of elements in battery materials

Determination of the content of a large number of elements in battery materials including electrolyte, electrodes and separators and casing is performed with screening techniques such as semi-quantitative ICP / MS or with specialized measurements with very small measurement uncertainty.

Purpose

The composition of all the constituent materials in a battery is absolutely crucial for its function. Both production and recycling processes have requirements for purity and the main composition of materials. Aging processes and usage can also move substances inside a battery altering the function.  In addition to other chemical analysis techniques, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP / MS) in combination with relevant sample processing is a valuable tool for the identification and quantification of many elements. We offer to perform general and very specific measurements on battery material. Examples of elements are Mn, Li, Al, Na, S, Ca, K, Si, Cu, Fe, Mg, Ni, Co and Zn.
