EN ISO 11925-2 - Fire testing of construction materials

Reaction to fire tests – Ignitability of products subjected to direct impingement of flame – Part 2: Single-flame source test (EN ISO 11925‑2:2020)

Purpose

The test method measures the ignitability of building products when exposed to a small flame. The main purpose of the test is for classification according to Euroclass B, Bfl, BL, C, Cfl, CL, D, Dfl, DL, E, Eaccording to the European System. Additional test methods are also used, see EN ISO 9239-1 and EN ISO 13823.

To be able to sell a construction product in Europe, the product must be tested, classified and if possible, CE-marked in accordance with the Construction Product Regulation. To meet the technical fire requirements, there are common test methods and a common classification system, EN 13501-1, also called Euroclass. This classification system is used by all EU countries, including Norway and Iceland. In Sweden the Building Regulations, BBR, use the Euroclass system.

Method

The test takes place inside a test chamber where the test specimen is mounted vertically. The test specimen is subjected to edge and/or surface exposure from a small gas flame. During the test, time of ignition, burning droplets and whether the flames reach the top marking of the test specimen within a prescribed time period, is registered.

Deliveries

A test report, in Swedish or English, is deliverd with the test results after testing.
