Contact HenrikECE Regulation 118, Annex 6 - Test to determine the horizontol burning rate of material.
The method is used to determine the burning rate of horizontally mounted products used internally in vehicles/buses. Also mounted insulation in the engine room and in separate heaters should be tested. Materials can be tested individually or in combination.
Examples of products that can be tested with this method: Any portion of a single or composite material which is within 13 mm of the occupant compartments air space.
In order to use an interior material in buses, the product must meet the fire requirements according to UN ECE Regulation No. 118. RISE is listed by the Swedish Transport Agency, to perform fire testing to be used as a basis for type approval. The type approval is issued by the Swedish Transport Agency.
The test is conducted inside a test chamber where the test specimen is mounted horizontally. The exposed side of the test specimen is subjected to a gas flame from underneath. The burnt distance and the time taken to burn this distance is measureduring the test. The result, the burning rate, is expressed in mm/min.
A test report, in Swedish or English, is deliverd with the test results after testing.
