Sustainable composite manufacturing - ideation & consultancy
Is my idea viable? Which composite materials can be combined for new material properties? How can we make existing production of biocomposites more efficient? The testbed for sustainable composite manufacturing helps you bring your ideas to life.
IDEA | MATERIAL | PROCESS | TESTING | CONTACT
Bio-based composite materials can contribute to lighter and more energy-efficient products with a reduced carbon footprint. If you are new to this field, we help you understand if your product idea can actually be manufactured in composites. We also support existing composite manufacturers, with for example advice on more efficient manufacturing processes or with testing and developing material.
Some of the queries we may help you with
- We want to develop a new, sustainable product for the customer. Can you help us evaluate our idea so that the end product meets the customer's requirements?
- We have a deal in the sales pipeline that includes a new component - can you make a sample series for us?
- With this customer requirement specification, is biocomposite an option?
- We have a low-volume product with a large turnaround time, can you help us with small batch production?
- We have problems in existing manufacturing, can you manufacture for us for a limited time?
- We manufacture in biocomposite but have a challenge with the forming of larger products, can you help us?
A safe place for collaboration across the value chain
The testbed is a meeting place for the entire composite value chain where you can develop new, sustainable composite solutions together with your customers, material suppliers, machine and tool makers, research partners and investors. We protect your ideas by an NDA agreement and you, as the client, owns the IPR at the end of the assignment.
Tailor-made support or one-off services
We help start-ups, small and medium-sized suppliers and end manufacturers in several application areas, ranging from aircrafts, vehicles and boats to wind turbines and sports equipment.
You can order single-point services along the entire development process, such as a workshop together with business developers and technicians to dicuss your ideas or challenges. Or we can enter a more long-term collaboration effort, tailor-made to your development needs and challenges. Contact us for a free needs analysis.

More information
When do composites provide a competitive advantage?
Choose composites when your customer:
Requires a strong and stiff material
Composites can be both stronger and have higher rigidity than traditional materials, such as plastic or metal.
Demands for lower weight
Composites can be a way to reinforce weak points without requiring large volume or adding extra weight.
Requires corrosion resistance
Composites are highly resistant to corrosion, making them an ideal choice for applications where they are exposed to moisture or other corrosive substances.
Requires a long service life
Composites have good fatigue properties, which makes them particularly suitable for products with requirements for a long service life.
Has high demands on design and appearance
Composites can be molded into complex shapes, which can give your customer a unique product with a flexible design.
Has demands on circularity and sustainability
Composites provide lower weight, which results in reduced energy consumption and more energy-efficient production. Sustainable composites contain a higher proportion of renewable material.
