Histopathology service according to GLP
Once your animal study has been carried out, RISE has the capability to properly evaluate the study using an array of skills related to histopathology. Always according to strict GLP guidelines if required. Based on the specific customer needs, RISE can also perform tailor made assignment sectioning or just staining of finished sectioned slides.
The following services are offered related to histopathology:
- Full support and advice for studies with pathological evaluation.
- Necropsy of target organs.
- Full pathology for GLP toxicity studies (40-45 organs).
- Assessment of macroscopic changes (gross pathology).
- Excision of animal tissue, including rodent, dog, mini pig.
- Paraffin embedding.
- Paraffin sectioning and cryostat sectioning of animal tissue, but also human samples.
- Staining of hematoxylin and eosin. Other staining can be carried out on request.
- Quality checked glasses before being sent to the pathologist for evaluation.
- Evaluation and report by a pathologist with expertise in preclinical toxicity assessments.
Tips on how to handle the organs in your study before our processes for histopathological evaluation:
- Choose a spacious jar for each organ so that the tissue is not deformed.
- Place the tissues in a jar containing 10% buffered formalin (4% formaldehyde).
- To achieve optimal fixation, the fixative should be at least 10 times the size (volume) of the tissue.
- Froozen tissue is delivered with a generous amount of dry ice.
