Whether it concerns function, life length, appearance or reduced environmental impact, at RISE we have a group that specializes in PVD as well as characterization and development of thin coatings.
Thin coatings deposited by physical vapour deposition (PVD) have many applications, as PVD is an environmentally friendly and relatively inexpensive technique to change the functionality of a surface. The process is well suited for many different materials, such as plastic, metal and ceramic. In addition, many different materials with different physical properties can be deposited, e.g., tribological, electrically insulating, corrosion protection and more.
Quick facts about PVD:
We have expertise and access to various analytical methods for analysing a coating’s structure, chemistry, and different types of functional properties (mechanical, optical, electrical, etc.). Examples of characterization methods are electron microscopy (SEM-EDS), wear testing (pin-on-disk), corrosion testing, confocal-Raman spectroscopy, contact angle measurements, spectrophotometer and x-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS).
We can help you with expert advice related to coating techniques and thin coatings, including verification, market studies and literature studies.
In addition to our own expertise, we have an extensive network in both industry and academia related to PVD. As an independent party, we can help you find the best solution for you. We work both with direct assignments and externally funded projects.
Whether it's finding the right coating for your product, the right equipment for your business or analysing coatings, we can together find a solution based on your needs.
