Testbed for components and large structures
The testbed offers an internationally unique combination of powerful and versatile mechanical testing resources, advanced measurement methods, cutting-edge competence in computation and research resources.
The test bed offer the following equipment and competencies:
- Facility with test machines for small to very large loads, all machines have access for crane and forklift. The largest load in compression is 20 MN (2000 tons) and in tension 8 MN (800 tons), static or dynamic .
- Laboratory for complex riggings with loads up to 5 MN (500 tons) and floor with attachment points (120 tons / m²). The Loads are applied with hydraulic cylinders or dead-weights.
- Field tests can be performed up to 6 MN (600 tons).
- Advanced measurement methods, relative deformation (LVDT), elongation (TTG), optical (DIC), acoustic (AE).
This combination of laboratory resources and skills in computation and statistics enables qualified evaluation of component strengths with applications in research, development, verification, standardization and certification.
