RISE is playing a central role in the Digiclean project, which aims to solve one of the industry's most challenging problems: optimizing washing processes and reducing environmental impact through AI. Focusing on developing an AI-based digital platform, the project aims to extend the lifespan of metal cleaning baths, reduce chemical use and transform product companies into service companies.
“It's crucial to see this initiative as a whole process that supports both traceability and sustainability,” says Abdulrahman Kanaa, research leader at RISE. “By integrating AI into every step of the cleaning process, we ensure that improvements in technology and processes contribute to a more sustainable and efficient cleaning system."
The core of the project is the digital platform Optimera, which uses AI to analyze sensor-based data in real time. This makes it possible to predict when fluids need to be replaced, reducing waste and extending the life of cleaning baths. The results speak for themselves: working with Parker Borås has already reduced their chemical use by 57% and waste by more than 96%.
Charlotte Stigen Låsberg, CEO of Digiclean Solutions, highlights how the project meets a growing demand for sustainable and technologically advanced solutions.

With AI as a catalyst, RISE and Digiclean Solutions are working to redefine industry standards, with the goal of creating a more sustainable future for Swedish industry.
Partners in the project are Digiclean Solutions AB, Chalmers Industriteknik, Gnosjö Automatsvarvning AB, Parker Borås, Volvo, SKF and Clemondo and is funded by Vinnova.
