Cybernode to grow by 100% to benefit cyber security
13 May 2024, 10:37
In a world increasingly dependent on digital solutions, cybersecurity plays a crucial role in national security and the international competitiveness of businesses. Cybernode's mission from MSB,the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, is to build networks and strengthen relationships between businesses, academia and public actors in the cybersecurity sector. With over 220 members and an ambitious growth target, the vision is to grow the network to a point where independent innovation takes place continuously.
The Cybernode is a network that aims to promote interaction and knowledge sharing among its members. The network acts as a bridge where companies, the public sector and researchers can test ideas and brainstorm new technological solutions together.
‘We want to grow strongly to create a critical mass where self-driven activities can flourish and where new innovative ideas have the potential to develop through trust and collaboration across organisational boundaries," said Martin Bergling, Director of Cybernode.
The goal is knowledge sharing and innovation
The Cybernode has set an ambitious target of growing to 500 members. Behind this goal is a vision to strengthen the national network to a point where continuous and independent innovation can take place. To achieve its goals, Cybernode actively participates in conferences and seminars, and utilises various platforms to gain visibility and engagement.
‘We organise member meetings, thematic groups and webinars open to all members, where we discuss current topics in cybersecurity, such as artificial intelligence and new types of threats," explains Martin Bergling.
Such a proactive approach helps members to be updated on the latest trends and technologies in cybersecurity. The idea is also that discussions should not stop at the idea table, so they work methodically from an innovation mindset, including by offering RISE expertise in innovation management, etc. skills, investments and collaboration foster innovation.
Future challenges and opportunities
As part of the wider cybersecurity community in Europe, the Cyber Node also plays an important role in establish contacts at EU level, particularly in the context of the establishment of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), headquartered in Bucharest.
"The Cybernode is at the forefront of new nodes in Europe and gives us a unique opportunity to contribute to European co-operation in cybersecurity," adds Martin Bergling.
With support from MSB (the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency), NCC-SE (National Coordination Centre for Cybersecurity Research and Innovation) and other national initiatives such as Cybercampus Sweden and the Centre for Cybersecurity at RISE, the Cybernode complements its position to continue building networks and contributing to innovation that benefits national and international cybersecurity. The Cybernode's coordinating initiatives are crucial at a time when cyber threats are constantly evolving and require increasingly synchronised action from public and private sectors.
