Cybersecurity as a competitive advantage - what does RISE contribute?

Cybersecurity will become increasingly important as an integral part of doing business - simply as a means of competition. Sweden depends on the best innovations to remain competitive. Companies that do not invest in "security by design" will risk being eliminated. Active cyber security work is also a way of demonstrating seriousness to customers.

RISE's mission is to contribute to increased competitiveness and renewal of the public sector. It does this through its expertise and training arena for cyber security, Cyber Range.

"Cyber security is an important and strategic area and we need to invest jointly to both increase the existing competence in society and secure future competence. RISE can contribute with both expertise and infrastructure for training in Cyber Range," says Hanifeh Khayyeri.

Cyber threats are complex and the future looks increasingly bleak. More and more data is being collected and more and more layers are communicating with each other, creating new vulnerabilities. Having fewer actors in your supply chain will become increasingly important, but it also creates a vulnerable situation where small, under-resourced companies risk being left out of the game.

What will drive cybersecurity development and competitiveness?

Rules and new laws, collaboration, insights from incidents and transparency can drive development. Getting all employees to work as a team is a future must to increase the power of society. At a national level, Sweden must equip its expertise and become more strategically prepared. At RISE, the Centre for Cyber Security, we contribute with advanced research, teacher-led training and a secure arena for exercise opportunities.
