New report from RISE: Human-centered cybersecurity - a path towards sustainable security
26 November 2024, 07:01
A new report from RISE, the Centre for Cybersecurity, highlights the importance of putting people at the center of future cybersecurity. In contrast to traditional, technology-driven solutions, the report highlights how security can be strengthened by seeing people as an active part of security systems.
The report, produced by the Centre for Cybersecurity in collaboration with cybersecurity researcher Asreen Rostami, highlights several recent examples and case studies of attacks that have affected Swedish organizations. In the private sphere, the rise of IoT devices in homes has opened up new security challenges. Breaches of these systems can have serious privacy implications, so the report also highlights aspects to consider here.
The target audience of the report is cybersecurity leaders and decision-makers. With concrete recommendations and insights, the report shows how a human-centered approach can contribute to long-term, sustainable and inclusive solutions in the field of cybersecurity.
"Media coverage of cyberattacks often focuses on the financial and organizational consequences of an incident but does not highlight the impact of an attack on the people affected. This report highlights, among other things, how integrating the aspect of human-centered cybersecurity can strengthen the security of smart homes, especially by taking into account the emotional and personal consequences of security breaches,” concludes Johan Rosell, Director of the Center for Cybersecurity at RISE.
