ISTSS Awards

To recognize significant contributions and excellence in tunnel safety and security, ISTSS releases three awards at each symposium: the ISTSS Achievement Award, the ISTSS Best Paper Award, and the ISTSS Best Poster Award. These awards are usually announced by the Chair of the ISTSS Scientific Committee at the banquet on Day 2 of each ISTSS symposium.

ISTSS Achievement Award

Criteria and Procedure

The ISTSS Achievement Award is to recognize significant contributions to the development of tunnel safety and security. This prestigious award is elected by the ISTSS Scientific Committee (SC). It consists of two steps, i.e., nomination and voting. Each committee member makes up to 3 nominations. Then the top 3 nominees are selected for the voting. To avoid conflict of interest, if one SC member is nominated, she/he cannot vote, and this also applies to other SC members at the same institution.
