Valorization of Organic Materials from Food Industry Sidestreams

Within valorization of side streams and under-utilized products from the food and and agricultural industries, our competence involves a global approach with four sub-areas: pre-treatment, separation, characterization, and ingredient design for tailored product applications.

Towards Product Design...

The choice of technique and process conditions can significantly alter the composition and properties of the resulting ingredient. By understanding the influence of these different factors, the behaviour of the target ingredient can be optimised for specific product applications - maximising its value, increasing resource efficiency, and even opening up new markets. 

That could be optimising pre-treatment and extraction of a protein ingredient to yield something with a high solubility and neutral taste for plant-based beverage applications, or modification of fiber based materials to change the properties of the ingredient towards certain product areas like baking ingredients.
