Climate-smart food makes better use of ingredients
When it comes to food, taste is the main concern for most of us. However, for the sake of the climate, we also need to make better use of ingredients and by-products, increase our consumption of climate-smart vegetable proteins, and provide more healthy eating options. These are demands being made by both consumers and society.
RISE develops sustainable systems for all parts of the food chain, from farming to food waste. Through innovative technologies and processes we can increase shelf-life, efficiency and quality. We perform research on energy-efficient processes for the food industry, more sustainable meat production and on new foods focusing on positive, life-long health effects, such as products made from vegetable ingredients. Digitalisation is one example of technology used to increase efficiency, transparency and traceability throughout the entire food chain. In collaboration with industry and academia, RISE also conduct system analyses to provide a basis for strategic development.
