Successful conference on drug development gathered experts in Uppsala

Over one hundred and seventy enthusiastic participants, both from academia and industry, were present as topics such as Delivery of Biologics, Virtual drug delivery, Drug delivery and formulation, and Advanced analytics and characterization methods were discussed. Two poster sessions were held, and a poster pitch was conducted where young researchers had the opportunity to pitch their research in three minutes. In the evening, all participants gathered at Uppsala Castle for a dinner in historic settings and good company. 

The need for a conference to highlight the work happening within the two competence centers, in the industry, and around the world seemed evident to the two center directors. 

"We wanted the conference to focus on areas that are important for the development work needed to transform a drug substance into a medication that benefits patients," said Anna Fureby, center director for NextBioForm. 

Whether a repetition of the conference will take place remains to be seen. Currently, SweDeliver and NextBioForm continue their collaboration through joint seminar series, and NextBioForm is aiming for their center meeting in the spring.
