Johnn Andersson
Johnn Andersson has been working as a researcher within FINEST since 2021. Together with colleagues at Uppsala University, he has been studying innovation related to wild berries and plant-based protein products. The research has resulted in several articles that are currently under review in scientific journals. These articles present, among other things, industry surveys as well as strengths, weaknesses, and directions in sustainability-driven innovation processes, which are of great interest to companies, policymakers, and other stakeholders who aim to shape the development of new solutions.
Now, Johnn Andersson is taking the next step to RISE, assuming a role as a researcher within the Policy and Innovation unit. His involvement in FINEST will continue and evolve. Additionally, he will participate in other projects spanning across multiple technology domains and industries, continuing his work in exploring how systems thinking can be used to analyze and shape innovation processes.
Linus Thomson
Linus Thomson, employed at Chalmers University and a postdoc in FINEST, focuses on work package 2 which aims to expand the understanding of innovation management within the food sector. Linus has a several-year professional background as a civil engineer in the United Kingdom and as a consultant in Sweden.
He earned his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Luleå Technical University in June 2023. His dissertation, focused on digital business model innovation, challenged the established academic perspective on digital business models. In his dissertation, he critically examined the academic discourse surrounding digital business models, which had struggled to explain the essence of digital technology. Through his research, he highlighted the critical mechanisms that constitute the true value of digital technology in business model innovation.
Within the scope of FINEST and Work Package 2, Linus pays particular attention to understanding how linear thinking, which leads to overproduction and overconsumption in the economic domain, can be redistributed to benefit both the social and environmental domains. In other words, he explores how companies can create and capture value through their business models in a more sustainable manner. This research emphasizes the importance of understanding the interactions between various actors in the food sector and how their interactions can promote a circular logic.
