Full day focus on vegetarian proteins at GroPro

Hello Evelina Höglund! On the 15th of May FINEST organised a whole day at GroPro in Bjuv. What was the day about?
"We gathered around the theme 'Vegetarian proteins - how do we bring even better products to consumers? We heard a trendspotting session, a business update and looked at the strategies of our neighbouring countries. We also talked about technical solutions for texturising and flavouring legume based products and had a tour of the GroPro factory. We were a good mix of companies with different roles in the plant-based food value chain, such as raw material suppliers, ingredient suppliers and product developers, as well as consumer and food researchers and industry representatives in the form of the Sweden Food Arena."
What insights did you gain from the day?
"It is positive to have physical meetings, we need to meet in the value chain to make new contacts and find ways to work together to meet the challenges of plant-based. It is exciting to discuss current trends and how we can meet them by better understanding consumers, and I also gained more knowledge about the opportunities in processing and flavouring vegetarian products. Most importantly, the common conclusion was that we need to emphasise and communicate to consumers the value of our Swedish raw materials and products for health, the environment and Swedish food production."
