FINEST researchers present results at international conferences

16 September 2024, 11:11

Since the beginning of the summer, FINEST staff have participated in several conferences, including the Futures Conference 2024 in Turku, where Björn Persson presented work he had done together with Fredric Norefjell at FINEST and Mistra Food Futures - the development of a method for business collaboration. The aim is to create collaboration between actors and share risks, costs and investments in a transition

During the Nordic Nutrition Conference in Bergen, Susanne Bryngelsson and Marta Bianchi presented a poster from a FINEST project comparing the Keyhole and Nutri-Score front labels for plant-based drinks and yoghurt products. The conclusion is that the Keyhole makes a stricter judgement, i.e. fewer products are judged to be of nutritional quality according to the Keyhole compared to Nutri-Score. The project was led by Hanieh Moshtaghian with Marta Bianchi, Elinor Hallström and Susanne Bryngelsson as co-authors.  Link to abstract: https://www.idunn.no/doi/abs/10.18261/ntfe.22.5.144#abstract

During the R&D Management Conference in Stockholm, Maria Elmquist, Joakim Netz and Thomas Taro Lennerfors organised the track ‘Enabling innovation in the agri-food sector’. Helena Fornstedt presented ongoing research linked to FINEST, on two intertwined and competing socio-technical imaginaries (STIs), namely the red STI of sustainable meat and the green STI of protein shifting, highlighting two crucial differences between them: their views on what emissions are problematic and what reduction they consider desirable.

Eduardo Desiderio presented ongoing FINEST research during LCA Food 2024 in Barcelona on 8-12 September, a forum on sustainable food systems where hundreds of professionals from academia, industry and the public sector gathered to discuss innovative approaches such as life cycle sustainability assessment in food systems.
