Data center IT hardware refresh driven by Life Cycle Assessment

Last week Parvathi Maya Thampi had the opportunity to attend and present a poster titled 'Data center IT hardware refresh driven by Life Cycle Assessment for a circular economy' at the SETAC Europe 26th LCA Symposium in Gothenburg. The event had over 500 participants from academia, government agencies, research institutes and the industry.
It was two key takeaways from the event;
1. There is a growing emphasis on prospective LCAs.
2. There is still a long way to go for LCAs as a part of sustainability research in the digitalization sector.
It was also an excellent opportunity to meet with like minded LCA enthusiasts and grow the LCA network for future collaborations.
