Tor Björn Minde, Mattias Vesterlund and Balazs Barna represented RISE at Data Centre World in Frankfurt.
Tor Björn participated in the panel "European Cloud Pact" led by Max Schulze to discuss the ambitious goals. The Pact for Carbon Neutral Data Centers is a self-regulatory initiative developed jointly with the EU. It supports both the European Green Deal, which will make Europe the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050, and the European Data Strategy by making EU data centers climate-neutral by 2030. The initiative has set ambitious goals that will facilitate Europe's necessary transition to a greener economy. Signatories commit to making their data centers carbon neutral by setting ambitious and measurable goals for 2025 and 2030.
Then Mattias had a presentation of "Data Center excess heat as a driver for urban and industrial symbiosis". He explained the conditions for heat reuse and our efforts in the low heat temperature range. He showed results from our fruit drying, biomass drying, mealworm farming and greenhouse projects. He showed how local adapted use cases for industrial symbiosis can improve efficiency.
