The VIRZ event Constructive Dialogue took place July 9, 2024, at Siemens AG, Gateway Gardens, Frankfurt am Main.
The event is a constructive dialogue on energy efficiency in data centers, one of the most important topics for successful project development and the operation of a data center. The topic is influenced by the framework conditions of the legislature, municipalities and cities as well as by technical innovations that promise a significant improvement.
The title of the RISE presentation: Lessons learned about energy efficiency from datacenter research and innovation projects
Content: There are learnings for all from award-winning EU projects on energy efficiency from an ISO-PUE=1,015 datacenter. Holistic control was implemented and studied in a server wind tunnel and a 500 kW air-cooled data center and a 20 kW fuel-cells powered liquid cooling container. Tor Björn presened RISE, Research institutes of Sweden, work with leading partners to advance the data center sector with new innovations.
The other presentations were "Update on the Energy Efficiency Act " by Nick Skala, Steffen Breiter, Siemens AG, "Energy efficiency in the data center – planning strategies", Andreas Gruchot, Dr. Braun Consultants, and "Cooling concepts vs. energy efficiency", Peter Wäsch, Stulz GmbH.
